If you’re left wanting more after the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines (golf hangover!), put some spring back into your golf stride with the LPGA’s fifth annual Kia Classic, returning to Aviara Golf Club, March 24–30. Why is this cool? Well, it only features the best women professional golfers in the world.
The 2013 Kia Classic Champion Beatriz Recari, 26, is known as “Iron Woman” because of her consistent play on Sundays (in the final rounds). She is passionate about growing the game for young players—reason enough to cheer her on.
Paula Creamer, 27, qualified for the 2005 Tour season on her first attempt, which is extremely rare. She’s a favorite among young girls for many reasons, one being her love for the color pink (hence the nickname “Pink Panther”). Her fan base also includes many male admirers… I’m told it’s her golf swing they are admiring.
Lexi Thompson became the youngest person to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open in 2007, at the age of 12. She was also the youngest winner in LPGA Tour History, a record that has since been broken by Lydia Ko. She ranks second in driving distance, with an average of 272.06 yards… all this, and she’s only 19 years old!
With almost every Top 100 Player confirmed in the field, plus the fact that it’s being held at one of the best golf courses in the country (according to Golf Digest and Golf Magazine), you’d be remiss not to go and support these talented women.
