Nearly 300 people attended the event, where they enjoyed a three-course dinner, cocktails, and entertainment, which featured Evan Ruggiero, a tap dancer who lost a leg to bone cancer. Guests bid on 40 luxury items in a silent auction and 10 items in a live auction. Up for auction were luxury and once-in-a-lifetime experiences, including a 10-night cruise from Athens to Rome, a Maui vacation, and a chef’s dinner for 10 at Herb and Sea restaurant in Encinitas. The event raised $2.4 million to support Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center. Scripps Health and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have partnered to create Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center, a clinically integrated cancer care program that recently began treating patients in San Diego. The partnership brings together the expertise of doctors at Scripps and MD Anderson to offer patient-centered care, using some of the most advanced cancer treatments available today.
