Green Flash kicked off its annual fundraising program in support of breast cancer research at its Mira Mesa brewery and tasting room with an evening of retro island kitsch, rare beers, and food pairings. Nearly 800 guests came out to show their support for the Susan G. Komen Foundation at the luau-themed event, and enjoyed the debut of Treasure Chest IPA, a pink ale brewed with hibiscus, grapefruit, and prickly pear juice. A dozen other limited-edition beers, tastings from local food trucks and gastropubs, photo booths, and the Treasure Chest Marketplace completed the evening. This year’s event raised $20,000. The annual program was established in 2011 by Green Flash co-founder Lisa Hinkley, who is a breast cancer survivor.
