Santa Fe Christian’s 29th Annual Auction & Celebration was held at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort on April 29. The event raised $1,050,000. Lead Sponsors were Grant Construction and Mossy Automotive Group. Net proceeds will go toward technology, academic programs, teacher professional development, facility improvements, financial aid, arts, athletics, Missions, and the William Wardrip Foundation, impacting every aspect of campus life.

Feeding San Diego received a $112,500 grant to support the Feeding Seniors program from the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation. Vince Hall, CEO at Feeding San Diego said “Older members of our community have given us so much of their time, hard work, and wisdom, the least we can do is to ensure they receive adequate nutrition and never worry about where their next meal will come from.”
The 26th annual Spinoff Gala was held on May 6 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine. The event raised $1.2 million to benefit the new Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center. Scripps Health and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center partnership with Scripps will provide adult cancer patients greater access to the most advanced oncology care available. Top sponsors included Rudy Vilkutaitis and Union Bank as well to nine top donors or “founders” who made a three-year commitment at $100,000 per year to launch the Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center.
United Way of San Diego County hosted “Changing the Odds Community Breakfast” on May 10 at the San Diego Convention Center. Sponsors included Solar Turbines as the Champion Sponsor and Higgs Fletcher & Mack, California Bank & Trust, Geico and AT&T were also sponsors. Liz Murray, Author of “Breaking Night” was the Keynote Speaker. A total of $25,000 was raised on-site to support United Way. Overall, the event raised $200,000.

Serving Seniors
The fifth annual Serving Seniors—”Experience of a Lifetime: Uncork Your Support”—was held on April 27 at the Del Mar Country Club and raised $450,000. Sempra Energy and SDG&E were the presenting sponsors of the event which featured a wine reception and dinner prepared by Executive Chef Jonathan Sudar.

San Diego Center for Children’s 130th Anniversary Celebration, Protecting Hope, Creating Dreams
The San Diego Center for Children’s 130th Anniversary Celebration, Protecting Hope, Creating Dreams was held on May 4 at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. Sullivan Solar Power was the Presenting Sponsor of the event which raised $300,000. Other sponsors included SDG&E, Southwest, and Sycuan. Bank of America was honored with this year’s PATH Award which is an acknowledgement of the Center’s Partners in Achieving Transformation and Hope. The Center, San Diego’s oldest children’s nonprofit organization, offers comprehensive accredited therapeutic and educational programs for children and teens struggling with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.
The Kylie Rowand Foundation held its 4th Annual Prayers for Kylie Golf Tournament at the Steel Canyon Golf Club. Presented by the Wild and Free Project, the event raised $60,000 to honor the two old Alpine toddler who lost her battle to neuroblastoma in 2015, and raise funds for childhood cancer research.

Interfaith Community Services’ Transitional Youth Academy
Interfaith Community Services’ Transitional Youth Academy held an event in Oceanside Harbor to celebrate the end of the school year. AT&T presented a $20,000 contribution at the event to Support resilient youth in North San Diego County by providing academic support, mentoring, leadership development, and workforce training. With this contribution, AT&T is helping prepare 50 TYA students for success.
On May 5, 41 golfers attempted to golf 100 holes each in a Golf Marathon benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County. The event was held at Sycuan Golf Resort and raised $171,026. The most holes golfed was 112 by Jenn Harris, the first woman to have ever won the competition.
