St. Germaine hosted the 31st Annual Silver Tea on Dec. 9. Proceeds totaling $120,000 are being donated to Child Abuse Prevention Programs selected as the 2015 grant recipients. The “Trees for Tots” program showcased miniature holiday trees decorated by merchants including Adelaide’s, Canterbury Gardens, Cos Bar, Girard Avenue Collection and Nativa Interiors. Underwriters included Donald Daley, Jr. and Tauny Daley, Diane Hollingsworth and The Lyman Family Foundation. Some of those receiving grants were Aseltine School, Armed Services YMCA San Diego and Walden Family Services.

SDG&E is the newest partner in collaboration to get students out of the classroom into the natural learning environment. Their Environmental Champions initiative supports non-profit organizations whose programs promote environmental education, community engagement and stewardship to the population of underserved communities in San Diego County. A $5,000 grant is helping to expand the number of schools participating in this program.
AT&T San Diego contributed $20,000 to the Junior Achievement Teen Ambassador program of San Diego. The Ambassadors, a team of 50 high school students, will be the first to participate in and shape the curriculum for a “JA Finance Park” financial literacy program. The JA Teen Ambassador program is an enrichment program that teaches students about career options, higher education, and responsible budget planning, as well as business ethics, etiquette, and giving back to the community.

BOMA San Diego completed its 21st annual “Give From Your Heart” Holiday Gift Drive in partnership with Promises2Kids, benefiting foster youth. The drive raised 11,000 toys. The toys were sorted at the Promises2Kids warehouse and were distributed to families and children for Christmas.
Higgs Fletcher & Mack partner Jim Peterson and his family were named the 2014 Make-A-Wish San Diego’s Friends and Family honoree. The recognition was based on their contributions throughout the year after being introduced to the organization when their daughter, Tina, battled non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The Peterson family embodies giving back, and we’re so fortunate to have them as part of the Make-A-Wish Family,” said Chris Sichel, President and CEO at Make-A-Wish.
St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center’s Tea by the Sea is being held at The Marine Room on Jan. 24. Proceeds will benefit SMSC’s Culinary Arts Program.

The Mitchell Thorp Foundation is holding its annual 5K Run/Walk on Feb. 7 at Poinsettia Park in Carlsbad. New activities have been added including a Kid Ventures Kids Zone to attract more families. Proceeds benefit the MTF Foundation which supports families and children in their greatest time of need.
The 4SRanch-Del Sur Community Foundation, an affiliate of San Diego Foundation and Helen’s Closet, an organization that serves patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) raised $20,000 at its 6th Annual Thank You Run held on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27. The funds are used for the betterment of the 4S Ranch and Del Sur communities.
