You’re on the snow 10 months a year. What is your favorite place to snowboard? Northstar Resort [Tahoe] is where I honed my skills and nothing beats a sunny park day.
You blogged that you have stood on every major podium in snowboarding. My favorite memory has to be winning my first U.S. Open in 2009. I also won the Global Open Tour and got second on the TTR Tour the same day. It was an unforgettable moment.
Single or attached? Very married. I have been with my wife, Drea, since we were 18 and she has played a huge role in my success. She was also a competitive snowboarder.
What is the hardest aspect of being a competitive snowboarder? The travel. We spend a lot of time on the road away from our families. For eight years I have lived out of a suitcase.
When you’re home in San Diego, where do you go? I spend most of my time in Encinitas, surfing Grandview, grabbing a bite to eat at Tin Leaf in La Costa, and walking along the beach in Cardiff with my wife and two dogs.
