Inland North County has been chef-deprived since the dawn of suburbia. But the food revolution is trickling yonder, most notably with the new Decoy Dockside Dining at Lakehouse Hotel & Resort. Brought to you by Eat.Drink.Sleep. (JRDN), Decoy overlooks Lake San Marcos and boasts former JRDN chef Danilo Tangalin.

The 8,000-square-foot second-floor dining room will do great-outdoors fare like game (elk osso bucco) and freshwater fish (brown butter trout), while the casual all-day Dock Bar downstairs has burgers, pizzas, ostrich empanadas, and craft cocktails and beer. San Diegans don’t often put “gourmet” and “wakeboarding” in the same sentence. Maybe it’s about time.
