The Skinny on the 2019 San Diego Pride Parade

The 1.5-mile procession is slated for July 13

By Sarah Pfledderer

Unfurl the rainbow flag! Marching bands, servicemembers, drag queens, elected officials, corporations, and more are rallying for LGBTQ+ rights in the San Diego Pride Parade on July 13.

The 1.5-mile procession is a pillar of our city’s annual celebration, which this year honors the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York (considered our nation’s launch into LGBTQ+ activism and liberation).

The parade starts at the corners of University Avenue and Normal Street in Hillcrest at 10 a.m., when motorcyclists begin revving their engines to lead the route along the main drag and down Sixth Avenue toward the grand finale in Balboa Park: The two-day 2019 San Diego Pride Festival.

The music festival’s a huge draw, featuring more than 90 acts across four stages. King Princess and Melissa Etheridge will be there to headline, and around 250,000 spectators are expected to attend. Be there or be square.
