The historic, seaside Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon & Half is about more than just stunning views and the elite athletes who finish first. The January 18 event celebrates individual challenges and triumphs, recognizing Heroes of the Marathon (nominate a runner online, or yourself). Heroes of the marathon are participants who have overcome an obstacle in order to run; five will be chosen by a panel and rewarded with passes to the VIP Finish Line Brunch. Proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, Heart for Africa, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and more. Spectators (and their encouragement) welcome.
