Where
Park near the intersection of Carmel Country and Clews Ranch roads and hop on the bike trail going west. Follow it to El Camino Real, where you’ll cross Highway 56. Then take Carmel Valley Road to Torrey Pines State Beach, where you can enjoy an ocean view before heading back. If you want a longer run or ride, start as far back as Carmel Mountain Road and follow the bike path from there.
Why We Love It
This path is free of cars and makes you feel like you’re running or riding through people’s backyards. The portion after Carmel Country Road doesn’t directly hug the highway and brings you to Torrey Pines without the parking fee. The eastern portion also has beautiful views of canyons and mesas, as long as you don’t look at the cars to your right.
Where to Refuel Afterwards
Nearby Del Mar Highlands Town Center has many good options, including Snooze or Searsucker for brunch and Jimbo’s… Naturally, a deli, bakery, and juice bar.
