Hard to tell whether the Cohn Restaurant Group is building restaurants or empires these days. The new, $15 million Coasterra restaurant-slash-event space is a behemoth, with one of the best waterside views of downtown and the harbor. Chef-partner Deborah Scott crafted a Mexican American menu for the 28,000-square-foot property. Sit on the massive outdoor deck (shaded by solar glass that powers 35 percent of the building), order tableside guacamole with Maine lobster in chipotle butter, the garlic- and sesame-glazed yellowfin tostada with creamy slaw, and the white corn soup with roasted poblano crema. Try Deb’s coconut margarita: reposado tequila, coconut cream, lime juice, and toasted coconut salt rim. Get frisky with their mezcal collection. It’s the kind of place mayors’ kids get married.
