The problem with Hollywood is that it can feel very… Hollywood. Not so at the newly refreshed Garland Hotel, a seven-acre urban retreat tucked in L.A.’s North Hollywood. After a $20 million renovation that spanned guest rooms, the retro-cool lobby, and its restaurant, The Front Yard, the family-owned property has re-emerged as a chic ode to the ’70s (see: poolside macramé classes). There are still nods to the city’s most prominent industry, like free transport to Universal Studios via vintage trolley and a photo of paparazzi from La Dolce Vita wallpapered in the closets of all 257 guest rooms. Pooches up to 40 pounds are welcome, too, and treated to a toy and mini dog park with a shiny orange fire hydrant. How’s that for A-list?
