Where
Start at the parking lot on Batiquitos Drive near Spoonbill Lane. Follow the Lagoon Trail as it hugs the northern edge of Batiquitos Lagoon past the nature center and back.

Birds, including egrets, raptors, and herons, if you can spot them.
Why We Love It
This network of trails has cool breezes off the lagoon in the summer months and side trails aplenty to lengthen your hike.

Go for lemon ricotta pancakes, a breakfast biscuit sandwich, or the pork belly hash at Beach Plum Kitchen (6971 El Camino Real, Carlsbad).
