Swim, bike, run, and (duh) rock the 5th Annual TriRock, the largest triathlon series in the city. The route features a swim in the not-so-rough San Diego Harbor and a ride on a flat bike path (you get to ride onto Naval Base San Diego), capped off by a run through Embarcadero Park North and Seaport Village, which also makes for a great spot to spectate and refuel (try the tacos at Puesto).
Individual athletes participate in either the sprint course (500-meter swim, 11-mile bike, 3-mile run) or Olympic distance (1,500-meter swim, 22-mile bike, 6-mile run), or teams of three can compete in the relay. The first race kicks off on September 21 at 6:30 a.m. behind the Convention Center. And it’s all in support of TriRock’s official charity, Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America.
