With the wave of new breweries opening around San Diego (almost a dozen already this year), it doesn’t take an official tally for us to know that business is booming. But the national Craft Brewers Association tracks the industry and recently released impressive new figures, namely a 15 percent increase in sales of craft beer in the first half of 2013 and a 12 percent increase in overall production. “Demand for beer produced by small and independent brewers has never been higher,” says Paul Gatza, director of the Brewers Association.
